Accessibility statement

Everyone should be able to use this site comfortably. Here is what is in place, and how to tell me when something falls short.

My commitment

I want claretenewaa.com to be usable by as many people as possible, whatever device, browser or assistive technology you bring. The site is designed with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 in mind. In both the light and dark themes, body text meets the stricter AAA contrast ratio of 7:1, and smaller labels and accents meet at least the AA ratio of 4.5:1.

What is in place

  • Light and dark themes. The site follows your device setting, and the switch in the header remembers your choice.
  • High-contrast colour pairings in both themes.
  • A visible focus outline on every link, button and control, so keyboard navigation never loses its place.
  • A skip link to jump straight to the content, and one clear heading structure per page.
  • Decorative charts on project cards are hidden from screen readers; the same facts are always written out in the text.
  • Underlined links inside body text, so links are findable without relying on colour.
  • Respect for the “reduce motion” setting: if your device asks for less movement, animations are turned off and nothing stays hidden.
  • No autoplaying media, no flashing content, and no time limits on anything.
  • Layouts that reflow for small screens and stay usable when text is zoomed.

Known limitations

Blog posts may occasionally embed third-party content that does not meet the same standard as the rest of the site. If you find anything else that gets in your way, I would genuinely like to know.

Feedback

If any part of this site is hard to use with your setup, email [email protected] and tell me what happened and what you were using. Accessibility reports go to the top of the list.
